“It’s not that Hard: Measuring LD Impact”
There are things we think that are hard, and trying to figure out what an employee has learned is one of those. Shifting your thinking about it can help. Such as, there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing. In this example, our focus shifts. For employee learning and development, shift your thinking from trying to figure out what is in their head and trying to draw it out, to observing what are they now doing or demonstrating that represents their learning. Behavior is easier to see. Then it is just mechanics to collect that information.
Companies spend millions on learning and development and report less than satisfactory results from those investments. Determining if an investment in Learning and Development (LD) is delivering benefits, begin with upfront planning and participation. This session will help participants to:
-
Understand the components and process of evaluating LD,
-
Utilize their program knowledge to begin a LD measurement plan, and
-
Share with their ideas and refine their LD measurement plans.
Learn about going from learning objectives to impact data that can be shared with others and show impact. The session is less technical and more practical. Have an example of a learning program you want to measure and can use to develop an initial plan. This is an interactive practical session to help hone your abilities to measure learning in your organization. This session directly addresses two areas in the ADP Capability Model: Career and Leadership Development and Evaluating Impact. Additional resources will be provided.
