How to Take Your Storytelling Skills to the Next Level
Program:
You probably already know that stories make your presentations and training programs more compelling and your key points more understandable and memorable.
Stories also enable you to challenge people without being confrontational.
However, while most people in the L&D field know the importance of storytelling as a communication modality, most people aren’t aware of the intricacies of storytelling which can make a huge difference in their ability to come up with the right story for the right situation, and telling the story in a way that makes the most powerful impact.
In this interactive presentation, we’ll explore how to take your storytelling skills to the next level by adding greater precision and intentionality to how you select, use, and tell stories.
We will explore how to use stories to:
1. Make key teaching points more understandable and memorable, and presentations more engaging
2. Shift a person or group to a more empowered, energized emotional state
3. Challenge someone’s limiting beliefs without being confrontational
4. Open someone’s mind to a new perspective without triggering resistance
5. Facilitate self-reflection and examination of counterproductive behavior in an emotionally safe way that doesn’t trigger defensiveness
6. Provide “virtual reality training videos” in the listener’s mind that foster skill development
ATD Capability Model
