Talent Development professionals are called on frequently to write messages intended to influence an audience.
In this interactive session, we will explore what behavioral scientists have found to be reasons why people change their opinion, alter their behavior, or agree to certain requests. We will look at techniques to use when you craft messages, for a written communication or for a speech, so that you influence the reader's thought process and increase the likelihood that the reader or listener will accept your ideas and do what you ask. Ken is a corporate writing expert and the author of Perfect Phrases for Business Letters (McGraw-Hill). After a journalism career with the Associated Press, he became a professional writing coach.
Ken has been a guest speaker at international conferences, and his writing has appeared in Fast Company magazine, the N.Y. Times, and the Harvard Management Communication Letter.
