PROGRAM

The learning profession today is a whirl of rapid change and uncertainty. Learning professionals often describe their day as flooded with information overload; they find they must multi-task in order to get their work done, and have little, if any, quality time for planning, innovation and building  relationships. Most of us are too distracted, barraged with too many e-mails, conference calls, and meetings. This relentless pace leaves us feeling more stressed, less productive, and less engaged with our co-workers, employees and families.

Mindfulness is about "training the mind" to boost your concentration, to have more focus and clarity, and to create space for innovation and relationships. We will explore how to integrate the practice of Mindfulness, meditation and self-awareness, with everyday job tasks, meetings and one-on-one interactions with others.

OBJECTIVES

At the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  1. Participants will be able to define Mindfulness and describe how the practice of Mindfulness can lead to more collaborative relationships.
  2. Participants will experience Mindfulness meditation and define how this practice can help to develop increased focus, clarity and self-awareness.
  3. Through a paired dialogue experience, participants will practice using a 4 step “Mindful Communication Model” to develop more effective and supportive relationships.
