PROGRAM

Janet Edmunson will demonstrate how you, as a training professional, can discover new insights by applying the Appreciative Inquiry (AI) approach.  AI goes beyond problem solving and root cause analysis to discover new possibilities.  You’ll explore how AI can be used to enhance employee engagement, build a positive culture, develop new organizational strategies and lead to higher performance.  When you apply this new process with leaders, employees or your training department team, they’ll discover a positive transformation to problems of the past and opportunities for the future.

These techniques could be used in many aspects of a training professional’s role, including facilitating strategic discussions and when facilitating training with dysfunctional teams or departments.

Janet will use many interactive activities for participants to actually practice AI with various scenarios so training professionals feel comfortable and prepared to use them immediately when they return to work.

OBJECTIVES

At the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  1. Define Appreciative Inquiry (AI) and describe how the AI process can lead to new insights beyond those derived from standard brainstorming or problem solving
  2. Practice and demonstrate the AI technique for one common performance improvement issue such as developing better team cohesion
  3. Create positive AI questions within breakout groups for a variety of issues that training professionals often need to address in the workplace, such as goal attainment, optimizing strengths, turning pressure into performance, rapid recovery from setback, and meetings that make a difference.
